RMR Snow Report (at time of posting)
Base Depth 148cm
Comfortable temps (-4 to -8), still snowing, 30-40kph winds above treeline, pretty good visibility.
Very dry blower pow! Generally a foot fresh on the runs, with 4ft drifts above treeline. Easily knee deep in the glades with countless thigh deep turns. All upper mountain open.
Arrived for opening (8:15am) and got 3rd cabin. Started on Clyde’s through substantial drifting then shin-knee deep pow. Next was Iron Glaiden – WOW! I’ve been away for a year and almost forgot how good super deep dry pow really is! Never less than knee deep, thigh+ deep on turns and did I say it was dry?? Had to do a few laps there. North Bowl came after but the main bowl area wasn’t as deep and was slightly wind affected. The pow was great in the trees/ridges of the lower bowl (knee deep dry). There was sluff, and we noticed some small shooting cracks slabbing on that hoar layer an est. 40cm down. Headed back to Iron Glaiden for a few more laps each right down to Ninja which was in pretty good shape for early season – unlike my legs. Finished the morning with a quick lap through Parachute to Downtowner. Lift lines were non-existent and we had deep fresh tracks all day. Best day of the year so far, and good accumulation due all week.
Once again, nothing special, but a couple pics and little video to show you the snow conditions… No shots from Iron Glaiden unfortunately – too busy lovin’ that!
