It’s starting to snow again! The Alberta / BC resort operators are breathing a collective sigh of relief and so am I actually. So let’s not mess around… Here are the 24hr snowfall numbers:
Whitewater 33cms, Whitefish 25cms, Fernie 22cms, Big White 22cms, Red 19cms, Revelstoke 10cms. Sadly, Kicking Horse, Louise, Castle and Sunshine are under 5cms. No powder day for me tomorrow. But fear not Albertans!!! Snow is on the way and oil will be back over $50 by this time next year.
I say snow is on the way because the forecast for Whistler makes me positively giddy. Too bad a lift ticket costs $140 and you’ll be standing in lift lines longer than you’ll be skiing on a powder day. It’s not just Vancouver’s hockey team that sucks 🙂 Vancouver is a fantastic place to live but it’s gotten too popular for its own good. The same can be said for Whistler.
Now I could definitely live in Nelson BC. They’ve already had more than enough snow this week but there’s even more in the forecast for Whitewater and Red. I wonder what our friends with a house on Kootenay Lake are doing this weekend???
Closer to home… Revy and Kicking Horse are expecting snow on Sat/Sun but much less than what is forecast for the Koots. The same can be said for Fernie. But Whitefish and Castle have decent snow in the forecast. Perhaps the system is heading south into the US but that doesn’t explain why they’re calling for 7cms at Castle. Louise and Sunshine appear to be getting shut out this weekend with only a few cms in the forecast. Let’s hope the system hangs north and brings us a little snow in the mountain parks.
